Mr Milind Dalal graduated from Bombay University in 1989. He then trained as a General Surgeon and acquired the basic surgical qualification, Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS).

He commenced his training in Plastic Surgery in 1992 in India and acquired the MCh (Plast) from University of Bombay. He then continued his training in Plastic Surgery in the UK in London, Wales, completed his Higher Surgical training in Plastic Surgery in the West Midlands and is on the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery in the UK.

After acquiring the Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship in Plastic Surgery FRCS (Plast) he completed a Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship at McIndoe Surgical Centre at East Grinstead, and a prestigious Fellowship in Microsurgery at Chang Gung Hospital in Taiwan. He has been working as an NHS Consultant in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Royal Preston Hospital, Preston, UK for over 20 years.

Mr Dalal is a Member of BAPRAS (British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeons).

Research in Plastic Surgery

Mr Dalal has an active interest in research and teaching in Plastic Surgery having published over 40 papers in medical literature and presentations at national and international scientific conferences.

Mr Dalal supervised Master’s students (M.Sc.) at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston (UCLAN) conducting basic research in Plastic Surgery. One of the student’s research projects involved laboratory research in cell growth of scar tissue around breast implants. Another student’s research project was to generate a computer model of blood vessel flow in microsurgery.

Positions of Responsibility

For 7 years Mr Dalal had been the Clinical Director in Plastic Surgery at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust that serves the needs of Plastic Surgery of a population of about 1.6 million in North West of England.

Mr Dalal has been Council Member of BAPRAS (British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeons) at Royal College of Surgeons.

He was an Invited Member of the Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC) in Plastic Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons, London that leads the Plastic Surgery training in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

He was Member of the Intercollegiate Committee for Core Surgery Training at Royal College of Surgeons that leads the early surgical training years in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

He was an Examiner for the FRCS (Plast) examinations conducted by the Joint Committee on Intercollegiate Examinations at Royal College of Surgeons.

He was Chair of the Plastic Surgery Training Committee in North West England that was responsible for the recruitment and training of all Plastic Surgery doctors in North West of England.

He currently is Chair of Skin Cancer Clinical Reference Group & Chair of the Specialist Skin Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Team of Lancashire & South Cumbria that oversees Skin Cancer services in the region.

He currently is Clinical Director of Dermatology in Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Mr Dalal undertakes a full range of Aesthetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgical procedures. He has an active and busy practice in Preston, Chorley, the Fylde Coast, and East Lancashire.

In the NHS he provides Plastic Surgery services in Skin Cancer, Breast Reconstruction after Breast Cancer and Hand Surgery in the North West. He is also known for his expertise in Hypospadias surgery, and provides the largest Plastic Surgery training resource for this surgery in North West England.
